Vehicle Staging Team Leader Messages

Shift:24 hours
Immediate Duties:1. Receive appointment and briefing from Staging Manager. Read the Job Action Sheet and put on position identification.
2. Obtain briefing from Staging Manager; develop initial action plan with other Staging Team Leaders. Designate time for follow-up meeting.
3. Notify your usual supervisor of your HICS assignment.
4. Identify vehicle holding area within the Staging Area, as appropriate.
5. Appoint Vehicle Staging Team members and complete the Branch Assignment List (HICS Form 204).
6. Document all key activities, actions, and decisions in an Operational Log (HICS Form 214) on a continual basis.
7. Coordinate delivery and assignment of needed vehicles, working with the Logistics Section’s Transportation Unit.
8. Regularly report Team status to Staging Manager.
9. Brief Team on current situation. Designate time for follow-up meeting.
10. Instruct all Team members to evaluate vehicular needs; report status to Staging Manager and Logistics Section’s Support Branch Units.
11. Report vehicle resource inventories to Planning Section’s Materiel Tracking Manager.
12. Assess problems and needs in each unit area; coordinate resource management.
13. Meet with Staging Manager to discuss plan of action and staffing in all activities.
14. Document all communications (internal and external) on an Incident Message Form (HICS Form 213). Provide a copy of the Incident Message Form to the Documentation Unit.
Ongoing Duties:1. Continue coordinating delivery and assignment of needed vehicles, working with the Logistics Section’s Transportation Unit.
2. Coordinate use of external resources.
3. Ensure prioritization of problems when multiple issues are presented.
4. Ensure documentation is done correctly and collected.
5. Make notification of resource problems encountered to Staging Manager and Logistics Section, as appropriate.
6. Ensure your physical readiness through proper nutrition, water intake, rest, and stress management techniques.
7. Advise Staging Manager immediately of any operational issue you are not able to correct or resolve.
8. Meet regularly with Staging Manager for status reports, and relay important information.
9. Ensure staff health and safety issues being addressed; resolve with Safety Officer/Operations Section Chief when appropriate.
